19-Year-Old Man Killed After Scaling into Lioness Cage in Brazil

(MENAFN) A 19-year-old man was killed following a lioness attack at Arruda Camara Park in Joao Pessoa, located in northeastern Brazil, local news sources confirmed Sunday.

The victim, who authorities say suffered from mental health conditions, scaled a six-meter-high barrier before entering the predator's enclosure, where the animal immediately mauled him, according to media reports.

Municipal officials stated that the zoological facility complies with all required technical and safety protocols and has initiated a full investigation into the fatal incident.

Arruda Camara Park was shuttered immediately after the attack, with all public access suspended indefinitely. Authorities have not disclosed when the zoo will resume operations.

The tragedy raises questions about security measures at the facility, despite official assertions that safety standards were met. The circumstances surrounding how the individual bypassed multiple barriers remain under review.
